This structure is a conversion from an existing three-story building to a 9-unit, five-story R2 occupancy. Griggs Engineering framed this conversion with a combination of framing techniques and underpinned the existing structure to add a basement.

 

We worked closely with the developer and architect to support the demolition of the existing concrete floor decks while bracing the exterior walls that remained. Griggs Engineering also continued to review the reports coming out of the field for underpinning to ensure the design and the construction are in synchronization.
